Valerie Ogorodnyk
Valerie Ogorodnyk, founder of Active Kreative, is a transpersonal art therapist using creativity to empower and heal. With a background in visual arts and holistic therapy, she blends art therapy, mindfulness, and transpersonal psychology to help individuals connect with their inner selves. Her work supports personal growth and community, including psychological aid for Ukrainian refugees in Australia.
With a Masterβs in Visual Communication and a Bachelorβs in Visual Arts, Advancled Diploma of Transpersonal Art Therapy, Valerieβs journey has been a vivid blend of creativity, empathy, and resilience, marked by her passion for holistic healing and a lifelong dedication to self-expression through art.
The Birth of Active Kreative: Healing Through Art
Valerieβs journey, however, was not just about mastering creative techniques; it was about finding ways to connect with the inner self and using creativity as a therapeutic outlet. Over the years, she explored various forms of self-expression, including video art, concept photography, and performance art, always searching for ways to transcend traditional communication barriers. Her exploration of art, combined with her studies, led her to understand that creativity can be a powerful tool for healing and personal growth. Despite the beauty of her creative journey, Valerie's path was not without challenges. She faced significant personal struggles, including divorce and the complexities of single motherhood. During these difficult times, she found solace in practices that connected her to her inner self, such as yoga, meditation, breathwork, and most importantly, art. The act of creating became a therapeutic process that allowed her to navigate and heal her emotions.
Active Kreative: A Unique Approach to Healing
Driven by her passion for art therapy and personal transformation, Valerie founded Active Kreative, a unique platform that integrates art therapy, transpersonal psychology, and holistic practices. Active Kreativeβs approach goes beyond traditional therapy, providing a safe, creative, and non-judgmental space where individuals can explore their emotions and connect with their authentic selves. Valerieβs vision for Active Kreative is to offer a holistic, integrative alternative to traditional talk therapy, using art as a bridge to self-discovery, emotional healing, and personal growth.

Supporting the Ukrainian Community
Valerieβs commitment to community support is a core aspect of her work. Following the tragic events in Ukraine in 2022, she felt a renewed sense of purpose. While expecting her second child, she channeled her energy into helping others, particularly those affected by the conflict. Recognizing the mental health challenges faced by refugees, Valerie started a Ukrainian Refugee Support Group in Melbourne. This initiative provides psychological support and stress management services, offering a safe space where individuals can process their experiences and begin to heal.
